Demoltion Derby

Sept. 7, 2007
We took Carter to the Greenfield Fair to watch the Demolition Derby. I LOVE Demolition Derby and hope one day I can participate in one. Just one, to say I did it. We tried to go a few weeks ago but by the time we got to the fair, Demolition Derby was almost over and sold out. This time I was so worried that we just drove an hour to find out it was also sold out, but it wasn't. I was soooo excited that we were not going to miss it. We learned that Carter also Loves watching the cars crash into each other. After each round he signed and said MORE!. He could not wait for the next set of cars to come out. After the first round he got upset when they were removing the cars. He thought it was all over.

We sat behind 2 nice guys that were deaf. Carter and I took a sign language course and he still uses a little of it. They had noticed Carter using it when he said he wanted more. They were asking me about Carter using it. I explained the best I could that he took a class. They were very nice. They had tons of patience too. Carter must have brushed up against them at least 20 times. (the seats were very close together). I was able to understand or get the gist of most of what they said when they were signing. It was really fascinating to watch. Carter even watched closely as they spoke to the children that were with them. Both adults and the children using sign language. Carter started to move around his fingers and hands fast. He was trying to do sign language with them.

After the Demolition Derby we walked around the fair. Craig played a football game where he had to throw a football straight into a tire. He paid $5 for 6 tries. Out of the 6 tries he got 2 so he won 2 prizes. Craig got a black Patriots hat and Carter got a dark blue Patriots hat.

Craig took Carter on this ride. It was a plane that slowly lifts from the ground and then slowly goes in a circle. Carter wanted out most of the ride.
Then they went down the slide. I think the slide and the moon bounce are Carter's favorite carnival rides. He tried to drag Daddy up the stairs to go down the slide again but we were out of tickets so we headed home. Afterall, we did have a long drive ahead of us.

'Stuck'
Sept. 8, 2007
I don't have a picture but I sure wish I did. I suppose it would have been borderline mean had I left Carter 'stuck' just to grab a camera out in the car. (Even if he wasn't crying)

I was over Tiffiny and John's house sitting in the living room. Carter was going back and forth between Kieley's bedroom and where I was (the living room). The kitchen is in-between the two rooms. I saw him come into the kitchen and go out of sight towards the spiral staircase. The gate was up and the stairway is surrounded with a metal banister so I was not so worried I had to jump out of my seat. (I could also see the stairway from where I was sitting). I called him into the living room asking him to come to me. Saying we can go outside and see Nani. He says, STUCK. I knew one body part or another must be stuck somewhere or something he was trying to get to was stuck and he could not get it out so I got up and walk around the corner. There is Carter with his head 'STUCK' between two bars in the banister and each hand on the bars on each side of his head. I walk in and he repeats it again, 'STUCK'. Chris's Dad Bill was sitting in the living room and he gets up to see why Carter is saying stuck. I run to the door to holler outside to Mom that Carter's head was stuck in the banister. In the meantime Uncle Johnny came up the stairs and grabbed one bar, Chris came inside and grabbed the other bar, I moved Carter's body and head closer to the middle of the opening and we all pull, guys pulling the bars apart and me maneuvering Carter's ears and head out of the banister. He did not cry once. He just laughed with the rest of us once he was out. He is such a good sport. I hope he is always capable of laughing at himself. Life would be a lot less stressful and more enjoyable if we could all just laugh at the silly things we do.
