We started our 4th of July celebrations on Thursday. Carter and I went to my friend Kristen's house. Carter got to play with Hunter and Brian. We started in the yard with the kids playing in the kiddie pool but the clouds rolled in and we were forced inside. Inside Carter found plenty of toys to keep him busy. We had a great time. I forgot my camera so unfortunately I do not have any pictures. Thank you Kristen!
After Kristen's we headed home to pick up Daddy, and armed with the camera we then headed over to Alisha and Scott's. To pick them up. We were going to the Deven's Fireworks. On the way I realized I forgot to tell Alisha and Scott that we did not bring a blanket because the grass would be wet so we brought chairs. This left us 2 chairs short and we were almost there. Luckily I remembered as we were approaching Grammy and Grampy's house. So with one quick phone call I was able to get us seats. Thank you Grammy and Grampy!!! You guys are the best! We arrived in Devens and started walking. We were meeting Janice, Shane, Hunter and Hayden there. We thought there was no way we would find them. It was already getting dark and there were just too many people. So as we were walking in who do I spot walking some feet in front of us? That is right Janice and Shane. We had just enough time to go and find a spot, set up the chairs and as I walked off to get some food, they started. I quickly ran back to Carter so I could watch him watch the fireworks, afterall that is really the only reason I like to go. He was sitting in Daddy's lap, scared. Poor guy. After a few more beautiful lights in the sky he started to enjoy it and even screamed and clapped. I tried to take pictures but the battery I put in the camera was more dead than the one I replaced it with. OOPS!
The 4th
Yesterday we headed to Meme and Pepe's house. They had a lovely BBQ. We tried to play games but there was just too much commotion. Carter had a spill on the stairs. He was holding onto the railing and walking down. About 4 steps from the bottom he lost his footing. (Big surprise huh?) After that it was kind of blury for me. I think he rolled down. I was watching him, I just am not sure how he fell because I was so scared. He landed on the cement. When it happened I got down those last 6 steps so fast and all I kept saying is oh my God over and over again. Everyone came running over but by the time anyone else had the chance to help him I already had him scooped in my arms holding him tight. He was crying and Lorna, Scott's Mom was standing between me and the gate to the car. I just said I want to take him to the hospital. She said wait and sit. I said no, I want to take him to the hospital. She got me to sit down and started to examine him. It was then I remembered she was a nurse and she was doing the same thing the hospital would do. She checked his head, his face, his eyes, his mouth, his back, his arms and legs. Making him push her away, making sure all his reflexes were in check. All the while Carter is saying want Mommy. I am crying now. GEEZ. I was so scared. He was not crying as hard or loud as I thought the fall called for. That worried me. Lorna finished the exam and said he would be ok. Daddy held a towel with ice in it on the back of his head and Meme got him a grape popsicle. Carter's forehead is scratched, the side of his nose is scratched and his back is scraped a little. No bumps on his head and nothing bruised over. He walks away with not much injury and no scarring. Mommy and Daddy are scarred for life. His recount of the story is this. Carter fall down stairs. Carter boo boo and Mommy pick up. That's it. My recount of the story, well you just read it. Kids are so resilient and they just bounce back.
It was no time before Carter was up and playing with the other children. He got to play with Brayden, Delia and Mariah. He chased them all around the yard roaring at them like a monster. They would go off running and screaming. Carter would catch up to them and just roar, keeping his hands off of them. What a good kid. He also got to play on the slides, cars and playhousese at Meme and Pepe's.
Here he is playing with Brayden.
Going up the slide!
Beth, Alisha and Tiffany
The above picture is Carter playing with Bo, Alisha's cousin. Carter calls his Boo. How cute is that.
Alisha and ScottI asked Alisha to take a picture of Carter hugging Brayden goodbye but she pushed something on the camera and this is how it came out.
Mariah, Delia, Carter and Brayden
I then asked her to take pictures of Carter using the sparklers but the camera did not take any pictures. This was her reaction when I pointed the camera at her, pushed the button and it flashed. Worked just fine.
I was so nervous letting Carter do this. He loved it though. Why wouldn't he, it is a stick that sparkles and makes Mommy worried.
Today we have 2 more parties. Aunt Diana will be home for a visit so we are very excited to see her.
