Carter's first time playing in the snow...

February 2, 2007

I have been looking forward to this for a long time. The first time I get to bring Carter outside to really experience snow. As we got each of our dogs, then they were puppies I could not wait for their first snow fall that allowed them to experience snow. I would love seeing how they responded to this new adventure. They all were a little unsure but loved to run through it.

Carter did not like the feel of it. In fact, it caused him to freeze up. I brought a snow ball in from outside and let him feel it. He did not like the cold feeling. He immediately brushed it off his hands. Although it was about 9:30 at night we bundled Carter up in his snow suit and shoes and brought him outside to play. If he fell, he did not know what to do. He just stayed there, fallen in the snow. He had no desire to touch any of the white stuff that was quickly piling up. I showed him how to make a snow ball and throw them at Daddy. He thought it was very funny but still had no interest in being the one to throw the cold snow ball. That would require him to touch that cold snow. He thought it was funny when the snow was thrown at him too as long as it did not touch his skin.

After that I showed him how to build a tiny snowman and we did snow angels. As we were walking back into the house he looked up and had a look of amazement as he watched the snow fall in the outside light. It was a beautiful sight. When it was time to come inside out of the cold, he was not a happy boy. He just wanted to stay out in the cold despite how cold he was getting.

That was a great night!
