Time for Play Group Mom...

I made the mistake of mentioning to Carter that it was playgroup day right when he woke up. We could not get out of the house fast enough. It was time to leave for playgroup and I had Carter's snack in my hands, along with his drink, and my car keys. I was trying to look for something so I put everything on the ottomon. Carter went and picked everything up, came up to me and said play group. The face he is making in the picture is his new camera face. Fortunately he does not make it often.

Hot Air Balloon festival
We went to a Hot Air Balloon festival but missed the launch by an hour. Carter still had a great time with his friend Hunter and cousin Kieley. Carter went down the big slide with his Uncle Shane, went on the carousel with me, and on the moon bounce with Kieley and Hunter. He loved bouncing around. I can't wait till his birthday when we set up the small toddler moon bounce we got him.

Time for Night Night Baby
He is barely 2 so he does not know you are NOT suppose to cover a baby with plastic bubble wrap. I thought it was so cute how he put the baby on the car pillow and then covered it up and said Ni Night.

All tuckered out
Carter has never before climbed up on the couch and fallen asleep all on his own. I was sitting on the couch and he climbed up with me. Sat and rested his head against the back cushion. He was facing away from me so it took me a while to notice he fell asleep. It was so precious.

Counting to 5
On July 21st Carter counted to 5 all by himself. I went to cut his fingernails and started with his pinky. I said ONE and he quickly said TWO. I said, (with much excitement) good job, that is right TWO. He then said Three. We repeated this process all the way to FIVE. Everytime I repeated the number he had just said, he would say the next number. I could not believe it. He just counted to FIVE all by himself. He can count to 20 but that requires me saying the number first and him repeating it. Same with the alphabet. He can do the alphabet but I have to say the letter first. I am so proud of my little guy!!!

Karaoke
We went to Meme and Pepe's house for a BBQ. We always have a great time. Carter ran around the yard with Daddy in tow. Later on, we got out the karaoke but none of us were ready to sing yet so we let Carter get it started. He loves to use the microphone. He loves to try to sing along too.

Let's go Riding
Daddy had just gotten home and he had rode his bike. Carter got to put on Daddy's helmet and then his bike jacket. Carter looked like ET and was not very happy when Daddy decided it was time to take it off.

Stuck where I shouldn't be...
All of a sudden I hear Carter saying Mommy help, help Mommy Mommy. I look over at him, he is in his old baby swing. Up on his knees swinging back and forth. He had climbed up but could not get down because anytime he moved he caused the swing to go into motion. Of course, I could not pass up this perfect picture opportunity so rather than help, I ran for the camera. I was able to get a couple pics but when I went for the video, he figured out how to climb out on his own. I was very surprised that swing could hold him.

The Dinosaur Place www.thedinosaurplace.com
For Carter's 2nd birthday we are going with a dinosaur theme. Carter calls them Roars. We took Carter to see some life sized dinosaurs in Montville CT. The Dinosaur Place has a 1.5 mile walking trail with 25 life sized dinosaurs on it. Some are out of reach for the kids to explore and others were easily accessible. Carter loved walking on the trail (that is right no stroller) all on his own with Mommy and Daddy a short distance behind him. He would look for the next dinosaur. We would say Carter, I see the dinosaur, can you find it. He would get this concentrated look on his face and scan the perimeter. Once he found it, he would get this glow to his eyes and a grin on his face. He would give the dinosaurs hugs and kisses. He said hi to all the dinosaurs and bye to every dinosaur we left behind. He even gave them his sign for I Love You! He had such a great time. After our hike on the trail we all changed and went into the splash pad where Carter and Daddy ran around getting wet. Cooling themselves off. Carter had a great time and we dreaded telling him it was time to go. After the splash pad fun we changed into dry clothes and went down to the playground. All but one structure was for kids that were 5-12 but that did not stop Carter from exploring. Craig and I took him throughout all the big kid structures and he had so much fun. It was time to go home though. He was asleep within minutes of leaving The Dinosaur Place. The drive was well worth it.

Writing on the wall...
I was in the living room working on Carter's first year montage when I hear him in the hall making some noise. It was a noise that I did not recognize, not one I would usually hear when he is playing in the hall. I get up, look around the corner and what do I see? Carter with an orange crayon in his hand drawing us a pretty picture. I quickly said, no Carter, we don't color the walls. Of course it was very hard to say with a straight face because I thought it was pretty darn cute! I asked him "now how are we going to get that crayon off the wall" and he looks at me then goes up to the wall and takes his fingernail and tries to scrape it off. The crayons and color wonder markers were out on his table so he could color his coloring books. I did not think he would color the wall. :-) I am so blessed to have him. He colors my life everyday!
