Camping for the first time...

We took Carter camping this weekend. It was an experience. The first day I was so exhausted from the morning excitement, anticipation and packing that by 2 I thought it was 5 and all I wanted to do was climb into the tent and go to bed..
After we set everything up Daddy took Carter on the paddle boats then we switched off and I took Carter for a lap around the pond. We had Pippa with us so unfortunately we could not go together.

Chillin' at the site...

We went over to the maine part of OOB and took Carter on some rides.

Most he was too small for though. This one he really enjoyed. The ride goes all the way up and drops for less than a second, slowly goes down, drops for less than a second.... This repeats until it is to the ground. He really enjoyed this. I think I might have a thrill seeker on my hands.

After our visit at the rides we went and hung out at the beach. Carter played with Daddy in the water and Pippa stayed sitting with me. Her presence was just enough to keep the seagulls at bay :-( everytime they would come near to eat the bread I threw to them, they would fly backwards as soon as Pippa was in sight.

Sunday we got to have a long overdue visit with family. We had such a great time. Jordan, Carter and I went for a paddle boat ride. Then hung out at the campsite. We then walked over to the activity building and made t-shirts. Jordan painted a pretty cool shirt and Carter did a tye dye shirt. We then had lunch, sat around while Jordan and Carter played catch and we talked, catching up.

Pippa loved being outside and with family.

Picking weeds... Carter thought these were pretty cool. He liked blowing on them and watching the flower fall apart.

Rolling the air out of the mattress.

YUMMY S'MORES

Carter tried to climb up the ladder and I thought we could do it but I got scared and as I climbed down to take him down he kept going but got too scared at the very last step...

Here is Carter stuck at the last step.

Here is Daddy coming to the rescue! Our Hero!

All in all it was a good trip even if we did leave a day early. Lessons learned... Camping with a dog makes for a boring vacation. You can't really go anywhere and you are then confined to the campsite. ... Camping with a heating blanket, quilt, thick blanket and sheets is just not enough to keep you warm at night in Maine at the end of May. ... Campfires cause a lot of anxiety to nervous parents with a very clumsy 2.5 year old... so much anxiety that a campfire is really not even worth it. I hope you enjoyed our pictures from our trip...

On Monday we went to visit Nani. She and Papa got 6 cute fuzzy Peeking Ducks. Nani let each of the grand kids name a duck. I threw out a couple names for Carter to choose from since he does not get the concept of naming pets yet. He got very excited about the name Dog pronounced Dee Oh Gee. His duck is the largest and Carter calls him Oh Gee. The baby ducks are only 5 days old in these pictures and they think Nani is their mother. When she strays too far from them they all stand up and chirp and run as fast as they can to be near her. They all follow her around the yard. It is the cutest thing ever. I hope you enjoy pictures!

That sounds like a very fun weekend and it almost makes me want to try camping... almost.

I didn't even think about the camp fire and kidlings! Yikes.

The ducks are adorable! Maybe Carter's duck's name is Deeohgee...

That looked like a ton of fun! I want to try camping as soon as I can as I know my parents took me camping at a very young age. I want Sam to love it and be as accustomed to it as I was!
